The Hoxton

Johalla Projects worked in collaboration with Ennismore Design Studio to curate The Hoxton’s twelve-story hotel including 182 guest rooms, a multi-functional event space called The Apartment, two restaurants and a cocktail bar.

Over 250 artworks were acquired for the private guest rooms, curating each room with a unique theme, and over 100 artworks for the communal spaces.  Showcasing the creative reach of Chicago’s art community, we are honored to include works by artists Leslie Baum, Kay Rosen, Marzena Abrahamik, David Heo, Laura Berger, Selina Trepp, Brandon Breaux, Andi Crist, Derek Erdman, Dont Fret, Chad Kouri, Anthony Lister, Sonnenzimmer, and many more throughout the public areas.

Johalla inporated historic components to the collection, including installing original work by Alexander Calder, works on paper from Ellsworth Kelly and David Hockney, and archival materials from Chicago institutions and arts spaces. We transformed the hotel elevators into a throwback to Chicago’s history where you can step back in time and explore historic city maps.

In the hotel’s corridors, Johalla Projects collaborated with Ennismore Design Studio to build monochromatic immersive maximalist installations sourced from markets, antique stores, and vintage shops.
